If like me, Time Out is a list of 100,000 things you may never quite manage to attend, take solace in the National Virtual Museum which celebrates UK culture and has news, listings and features from over 3,000 galleries and museums across the country. New Year's resolutions to be more cultural, get out more or just learn more stuff can now be achieved from the comfort of your PC. Well maybe not the second one. I like being informed and inspired by the events that happen around me, so I can talk with scholarly tones at dinner parties and suchlike.*
Particular timely in light of the film released this month is the Beatrix Potter Trail, chronicling the authoress' life and acquisition of 14 farms, 4000 acres of land and her flocks of prizewinning Herdwick Sheep as her fortunes grew, all eventually bequeathed to the National Trust.
*I assure you that the minute I receive a dinner party invitation, I will report back on the scholarliness of my tones...
