In fairness, this is the lounge on the messy end of the scale. But, no amount of scrubbing, vacuuming on hands and knees (the pile was too trod down to vacuum without the nozzle) or deep-carpet-cleaning spray would shift the four years or more of student parties and a laissez-faire attitude to red wine.
I'm not proud. I'm not wholly responsible. But I can make it better. Chiefly by gentle coersion, emailing of pictures of new carpets and one or more Saturday afternoons wandering around avoiding the eyes of salesmen in polyester shirts.
