The magazines are choc-full of resolutions, diets and detoxing. Personally, I've never really been able to get on board with it since my one attempt at University of paying £10 for 5 vials of pale liquid each to be added to 2litres of water and drunk each day. All I did was go to the toilet much more frequently and come out in spots.
Instead, I offer you handcrafted beauty, deliciously light-flavoured and light-coloured blossoming lotus tea. I first had this in a dim sum restaurant last year and have been scouring the net for it ever since. There are actually plenty of suppliers on both sides of the Atlantic. I chose SuziTea because they offered a multiselection pack which I am happily working my way through.
The blossoming takes place over about 5minutes and then the bloom can be rewatered up to five times, with none of the overstewing or bitterness that comes from normal green tea bags. I have actually developed quite a taste for these, as they have none of the palate cloying properties of the usual tea or coffee, none of the caffeine or bloated feeling and all of the smugness from doing your body good in the very smallest (but most visible) of ways.
One thought... strong jug or glasses work best. I have resorted to Pirex jugs for guests having burst my water jug with too much boiling water. This was photographed in the deliciously gorgeous and surprisingly chunky Dimple Glasses from Mirror Mirror which are perfect for single portions.
